Preparation is the number one key to a successful portrait session!

Below you’ll find tips on preparing for your portrait.  I’m sure you’ll find this information beneficial, but at feel free at any time to contact me with questions.

*In fine portraiture, the goal is to direct the viewers eye to the face.  I always recommend long sleeve, solid colored clothing.  Even on   infants and children.

* Avoid garments that completely hide the neck.

* Dark clothing is slimming.

* For groups, choose garments within the same tonal range. If one person is in dark clothing and another in light clothing, the light color is more dominate and that person appears heavier.

* Wear garments that fit well.  This is especially true for small children!

* White garments are good for white backgrounds. Dark garments are good for darker backgrounds. Do not wear garments that contrast, such as a light top with a dark pant.

* If you wear glasses and want to wear them in your portrait, you must either remove the lenses or bring a pair of empty frames.    Lenses in glasses cause glare and distortion.

* Include personal items in your portraits like your child’s favorite blanket, toy, or book.
